The Gait Laboratory
This Gait Lab has a walking platform with two embedded Bertec Forceplates.
This system uses Cortex imaging which is Motions Analysis’ software for handling all phases of motion capture within a single program – initial setup, calibration, tracking, and post processing.
The Gait Real Time Assessment and Interactive Lab
The GRAIL's unique combination of real-time data processing, treadmill perturbations and virtual reality allows our laboratory to challenge each patient with mechanical, visual, and cognitive dual-tasks.
We measure the changes in gait pattern during these situations which allows us to determine the patient's dynamic stability and fall risk.
How it works:
Synchronized VR environments are projected on a screen which immerses the patient in virtual worlds and natural walking environments. The GRAIL system then combines a fully instrumented treadmill with various movements (perturbations) and an integrated motion capture system. The system also simulates walking uphill and downhill, combined with visual stimuli, in order to challenge patients while measuring their gait behavior to perform a 'functional gait analysis'.
Through this software, the patient's specific gait parameters can be calculated for research and improvements.
